Inkvolt Privacy

Privacy Policy: Inkvolt for iPhone, iPad and Android

This policy covers Inkvolt for iPhone, iPad and Android (com.bermudezsystems.inkvolt), the mobile app of the Inkvolt suite by Bermudez Systems LLC.

The short version

Your documents stay on your device. Inkvolt has no account, no analytics and no advertising, and it never uploads a document. The one thing it sends on its own is an error report when the app goes wrong, and that report holds nothing from your documents and nothing about you.

Your documents

Documents, scans, signatures and initials are kept on your device, in Inkvolt's own folder (on iPhone and iPad it is visible in the Files app as "Inkvolt"). A document leaves the device only when you send it somewhere: the share sheet, a printer, "Save to…" a folder you pick, or another app you open it in. Bermudez Systems never receives your documents. Deleting the app deletes what is in its folder.

Error reports (Sentry)

When Inkvolt runs into an error or crashes, it sends a report to Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.), the service Bermudez Systems uses to find and fix bugs. A report says where in the app the error happened, the app's version and the device's model and system version. Before it leaves the device, Inkvolt removes from it any document, document name, text or file path, your IP address, and any identifier for you or your device. Inkvolt doesn't use Sentry's session tracking, performance tracing or screen recording. Sentry keeps reports for a limited time and then deletes them.

Scanning with the camera

Scanning happens on the device. On iPhone and iPad, Inkvolt uses Apple's document camera (VisionKit). On Android, it uses Google's document scanner, part of Google Play services on the phone: the pages stay on the phone and go only into Inkvolt, but Google Play services may send Google information about how the scanner itself performed (such as the device model, the app's name and version, and timings), as it does for its other features. See Google's disclosure.

Printers and scanners on your network

To find printers, Inkvolt listens on your Wi-Fi for the ones that announce themselves (iPhone and iPad ask your permission for this the first time). It asks a printer for its status and ink or toner levels only once you have opened or added it, and a scan comes straight from the printer to your device. None of this leaves your local network.

Purchases

Inkvolt sells nothing in this version. If Inkvolt Pro is offered later, it will be bought through the App Store or Google Play: Apple or Google handle the payment, Inkvolt only reads on the device whether Pro has been bought, and Bermudez Systems never receives your payment details.

App stores

The App Store and Google Play handle the download and updates of Inkvolt under Apple's and Google's own privacy policies. Inkvolt adds nothing to what they collect.

Children

Inkvolt isn't directed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect anything from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is published at this address with a new date, and the app's Settings › Privacy says the same.
